Afton Bates

Afton Bates, 84, of Antwerp, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home.

Afton was born in Kite, Kentucky on October 29, 1937, a son of the late Della (Hall) & Roscoe Bates.

Afton worked for 37 years at BF Goodrich. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan and an even bigger supporter of his children and grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty, to whom he was married on December 16, 1961; children Pamela (Jim) Stoll & Kimberly Franklin; siblings, Bufford Bates, Jan (Tom) Hanson, Joann Lange, & Betty Watson; & grandchildren, Mary, Tyler, Chloe, & Tucker.

Afton was also preceded in death by his siblings, O.C., Vernon, & Mildred.

Viewing is Monday, November, 29, 2021 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W River St, Antwerp, OH.

Service is Tuesday, November, 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM with viewing one hour prior at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
