Bert Hicks

Bertral "Bert" Hicks, age 87 of Payne, Ohio passed into eternal life, at 12:05 am, Friday, March 11, 2005 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bert was born April 3, 1917 in Floyd County, Kentucky, the son of the late William and Mary Anne (Coburn) Hicks. He married Julia Wireman in 1935. She passed away in 1990. He retired from Uniroyal Goodrich in Woodburn, Indiana and had worked at Permaglass and had been a coal miner. Bert was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church, Kendallville, Indiana. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Donna R. DeVore of Payne and Terrie L. Baumgartner of Indianapolis; sons, Lacy Dean, Clifton, Carles and Jacky N. all of Payne and Billy Jo of Antwerp; sister, Pearl Fulk of Antwerp; brothers Delmar of Portsmouth, Ohio and Garrett of Convoy; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. His daughter, Bruxie Ann Smalley; son, Adrain; sisters, Sylvia Reigns, Trylbia Osborne, Viola Beverly and Katherine Only have passed away. You are invited to participate in his funeral service, Monday, March 14th, 11 am, at the First Baptist Church of Antwerp (located on U.S. 24 east of Antwerp), with Reverends Larry Dixon, Russell Hicks and Morris Wicker officiating. You may call 2 - 8 pm, Sunday, at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp and after 10 am, Monday at the church. He will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery in Payne.
