Betty Stubberfield

October 12, 1927 — January 11, 2023

Betty Marie Stubberfield, 95, of Antwerp, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Vancrest of Payne. Betty was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 12, 1927, the eldest daughter of the late Dorothy M. Mettert and Lloyd C. Powers.

Many would remember Betty from the Ehrhart Museum in Antwerp, or directing the kitchen staff at the Hicksville branch of the Defiance County Senior Center. She was a long time member of Royal Neighbors of America, The Red Hat Society and the Fairview Grange. A lover of northern Michigan, she participated in the annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk fifteen times. Many also knew Betty as the quintessential and unapologetic University of Michigan Wolverines fan.

Betty will be missed by her children, Terry (the late Karen) Bowman, Fort Wayne, and Sheila (Larry) Shock, Sherwood, in addition to five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Jesse L. Stubberfield, siblings Beverly A. Kunkle, long time resident of Stryker, Ohio and Lloyd C. Powers, Jr. of San Jose, California.

Betty will be laid to rest beside Jesse in a private ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery, Hillsdale County, Michigan.
