Bruce Eugene Helton, Sr.

Bruce  Eugene Helton, Sr., 91, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, April 28, 2023.

Bruce was born in Benham, Kentucky on June 10, 1931, a son of the late Abbie (Estep) and Shelby M. Helton.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. His social nature made him a great salesman for over 40 years with Craft Laboratories. Bruce was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed vacations to Hawaii, watching Lawrence Welk, big band music and the Kentucky Wildcats. He always enjoyed a game of golf, especially when he was able to get a hole in one at the age of 72!

Bruce will be sadly missed by his daughters, Susan (Frederick) Helton-Groce and Leslie Moore; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Ann (Bowers) Helton; sons, Bruce E. Helton, II and Brent Helton and siblings, James Monroe Helton and Audrey Faye Cowden.

His viewing is 9 AM TO 9:30 AM at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 3rd at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Payne, Ohio with Rev. Austin Ammanniti officiating.

He was laid to rest at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Payne, with military honors.
