Carole Wood Overmyer 72, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 24th at her home.
She was born on May 29th 1942 in Van Wert County to William Forrest Wood and Dorothy Mae (Price) Wood.
She graduated from Riverside White Cross School of Nursing, receiving her RN degree.
On September 7th, 1963 she married James (Jim) Overmyer. They raised three children on their farm in Payne, Ohio.
Carole worked at Paulding County Hospital in the obstetrical department until retirement, assisting with deliveries and teaching childbirth classes. For more than 40 years she was the organist at the Payne Church of Christ, and most recently, attended the Woodburn Missionary Church.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, and being involved with the Paulding County 4-H program over the years. She always loved a good horse show.
Carole leaves behind husband, Jim and 3 children: Dawn (Eric) Cook (Payne, OH), Wade (Holly) Overmyer (Houston, TX), and Krista (Brad) Volk (Grover Hill, OH). Grandchildren, Eli & Tanner Cook, Hannah, Libby & Patrick Overmyer and Campbell Volk; brothers, Donald (Sandy) Wood of St. Clairsville & Allan (Bonnie) Wood of Delaware. A grandson, Cooper Volk, preceded her in death.
Viewing is Sunday 2-6 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne.
Her funeral service is at Woodburn Missionary Church, Woodburn, IN, at 11am on Monday, September 29th, with viewing one hour prior.
She will be laid to rest at Wiltsie Cemetery.
