Charles "Jim" L. Smith, 71, of Hicksville, formerly of Antwerp, passed away Monday, October 8th, 2007 at his residence.
Charles was born in Paulding on March 17, 1936, the son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Bland) Smith.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War; worked at Uniroyal Goodrich Woodburn, for 17 years and was a life member of the Antwerp V.F.W. Post #5087
In 1965 he married Burta Jackson, who died in 2002. On September 12, 2002 he married Betty Bender Dunmire, who survives.
Charles is survived by daughter, Gina (Joe) Rose, Oakwood; son, Mike (Maria) Smith, Defiance; stepdaughters, Dorothy Davenport, Antwerp, Beverly Becher, Defiance, Brenda (Tom) McAlexander, Granger, Indiana, Sharon Jackson, Hicksville, Robin (Roger) Theis, Brethren, MI, Tina (Bill) Hall, Hicksville, Patty (Eric) Nix, Couts, IN & Tanya (Dwight) Shepherd, Hicksville,
stepsons, Bobby (Kim) Newbauer, Franford, IN, Kevin (Lisa) Schooley, Hicksville & Jimmy (Jenny) Gamble, Hicksville;
sister, Margaret Clemens, Broughton and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty & brother, Ernest.
You are invited to participate in his funeral service at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, at 11 am on Friday, October 12th, with Harvey Hacker officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp, with military honors.
