Clela Sample

Clela Ann Sample, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Payne, Ohio passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at Spectrum Health United Hospital, Greenville, Michigan. 

She was born in Payne on June 25, 1942, a daughter of the late Victoria (Lucas) and Edward  Kuhn.

Clela was a massage therapist by trade but a wife, mother and grandmother at heart! She was constantly complimentary, even to strangers. Clela looked forward to her monthly luncheons with her classmates and any time she spent at Praise Lutheran Church and outdoors in nature.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, William Sample; children, Scott (Kathleen) Whitman, Brenda (Matthew) Combs, Steve (Terra) Whitman; stepchildren, Jason (Erinn) Sample and Sarah (Chris) Smith; sisters, Christina Schaefer & Nila Radenbaugh; grandchildren, Derek & David (Magalie) Whitman, Lyndsay (Jake) Cekander, Joseph (Katie) Whitman, Amber (Trevor) Webb, Colin (Maddie) Doerr, Landin Staker, Quinn Smith, Haizel Sample, Maddie Smith, Emma Whitman & Lukus Sample; 3 great grandchildren and four legged pal, Bobo.

Clela was also preceded in death by her son, Kent Whitman and siblings, John, Hobart & Anthony Kuhn and Mary Obringer.

Her funeral service is 11 AM on Thursday, August 10th at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 State Route 500, Payne, Ohio.

Visitation is Thursday, August 10th from 9 AM to 11 AM at Dooley Funeral Home. 

She will be laid to rest at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Payne.
