Rev. David L. Barkley, age 75 of Powell, Tennessee, formerly of Payne, Ohio went home to be with his Saviour, September 21, 2007.
He was born February 4, 1932 in Fayette, Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Audrey (Williams) Barkley.
He worked at I T & T, where he designed on the first circuit boards, he was previously the pastor of Free Methodist Church in Manistique, Michigan and Continental, Ohio; was co-owner of Holston Printing and owner of Fine Wood Cabinet and Furniture.
Rev. Barkley was a member of Freeway Church of God and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
On October 14, 1953 he married Betty Shaffer who passed away. On November 15, 2003 he married Nancy Dailey, who survives.
Rev. Barkley will be greatly missed by his wife Nancy; sons, John (Nancy) Hessler of Payne; David (Debra) Barkley of Kingston, TN & Andy Barkley of Powell, TN; daughter, Angela (Loren) Velazques of Knoxville, TN; stepson, Lewis Suttles of Fairmount, IN; stepdaughters, Bernice (Rickie) Nelson of Fairmount, IN; Sarah Amonett of Rossville, IN and Dottie (Charles) Rhoades of Fairmount, IN; sisters, Mary Stevens of Lenoir, TN and Linda Barkley of Oakridge, TN; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
You are invited to participate in his funeral service, Wednesday, September 26th, 3 pm, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, Ohio with Reverend Amy Haines officiating.
You may call Wednesday, 1 to 3 pm, at the church. He will be laid to rest at Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.
