Paul Richard Schilb, Sr. 85, of Antwerp, passed away at 7:45 pm, Friday, December 31, 2010 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.
Dick was born in Antwerp on July 14, 1925, a son of the late Mary Rebecca (Hawver) and Robert Andrew Schilb.
He was a Purple Heart veteran of WW II. Dick worked most of his life for Schilb & Sons, retiring from Friend Furniture & Flooring, Antwerp. He was Past Master of the former Antwerp Masonic Lodge and past Worthy Patron in 1959 of the former Eastern Star Hope Chapter, Antwerp. Dick also served one term on the Antwerp Village Council. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Antwerp, where he served 60 years as an elder; He was also a member of Hicksville Masonic Lodge #0478, 60 year member of the Eastern Star, Van Wert Chapter 48, Antwerp VFW Post 5087, Antwerp American Legion Post 253 and the D.A.V.
On September 1, 1946 he married Vivian King, who survives.
Dick will be sadly missed by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Janese; son, Rick (Peg) both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Derreck, Andy & Kim Schwehn, Aaron (Ashley) Schilb all of Fort Wayne, Mikael Schilb of Columbus; great grandchildren, Max, Charlie & Henry Schilb & Luke & Adam Schwehn; & brother-in-law, Richard Yearling all of Fort Wayne.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
His funeral service is at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River St., Antwerp, at 11am on Wednesday, January 5th, with viewing one hour prior. Pastor Mike Pennington will officiate.
Viewing is also Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a Masonic service at 8 pm.
Memorials are to the church or Paulding County Hospital.
