Wayne Phillips

Douglas Wayne Phillips, 74, of Antwerp, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at his home. 

Wayne was born in Siler City, North Carolina on October 25, 1948, a son of the late Mildred (Davis) Feeney & Eugene  Phillips. 

Wayne grew up in Continental and farmed for many of the farmers in that area. For much of his adult life, he worked as a millwright at General Motors in Defiance. On June 4, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sylvia, and spent many years enjoying life together. Sylvia preceded him in death on September 17, 2020. Wayne and Sylvia loved to travel with their camper. Together they traveled to nearly all 50 states. Wayne also had an appreciation for cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed working on them, watching races, and going to car and tractor shows. He was apart of a motorcycle club that would frequent rides down south and always enjoyed doing poker runs. 

He will be sadly missed by his son, David (Christy) Phillips; siblings Shane (Laura) Phillips & Elaine (James) Smith; 8 grandchildren; & 5 great grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra & grandson, Cody. 

Viewing is Monday, July 24, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home of Payne, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio 45880. 

Service is Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11 AM with viewing one hour prior at the funeral home. 

He will be laid to rest in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
