Eugene Bruns

Eugene W. Bruns, 84, of Payne passed away Saturday, October 17th, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Eugene was born in Woodburn, Indiana on August 9, 1925, a son of the late Katie (Helmke) and William Bruns.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, worked in maintenance at GM Powertrain, Defiance & was a member of Van Wert American Legion Post & Divine Mercy Catholic Parish of Paulding County.

On October 25, 1947 he married Alice Peck, who survives.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Alice; daughters, Theresa (Joe) Lehman of Haviland & Mary (Fritz) Cooper of Garrett, IN; son, William (Karen) Bruns of New Haven, IN; sister, Edna Bruns of Haviland; 10 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.

Gene's son, Gary, preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Payne at 10 am on Thursday, October 22nd, with Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating.

Viewing Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm with the rosary recited at 8 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne. Viewing is also, Thursday, 9-9:30 am at Dooley's.

He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
