Harold Eugene Perrine, of Payne, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert, Ohio.
Harold was born in Payne on September 11, 1923. On October 25, 1947 he married Rosemary Linder, who passed away December 8, 2012. Together they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage, faith, and family life. They were members of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church and loved to pray the rosary.
Harold served as a member of the United States Army, Private First Class, during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945 with 5 bronze stars and a good conduct medal. During his time in the military, he served in North Africa and Italy, where he was privileged to meet the Holy Father Pope Pius XII. He retired from International Harvester, Fort Wayne, Indiana with over thirty-five years of service. He enjoyed his retirement years following Notre Dame Football and was an avid fan of the young athletes from Wayne Trace High School. Harold made friends wherever he went.
Harold will be sadly missed by his children, Susan (Wayne) Smith of Troy, OH, Tim (Michele) of Powell, OH, Paula (Rick) Wiseman of McCartyville, OH & Kevin (Deb) of Ossian, IN; his wife's siblings Genevieve Wilson, Sr. Helen Linder, OSF, and Sr. Jean Linder, OSF, all of Tiffin, OH, Maurice (Vi) Linder of Fort Wayne, and Theresa Baumle and Jim Linder of Payne; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his son, Lynn H. Perrine; mother Ida Adcock Perrine and grandparents Thomas Edmond and Adeline Adcock.
Viewing is Wednesday, December 18, 2013, from 4 to 8:00 PM, with the Rosary recited at 8:00 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 State Route 500, Payne, where viewing is also Thursday, 9 - 9:30 AM.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 203 W. Townline, Payne at 10 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
