Harry Orval Schomburg, 80 of Defiance, formerly of Antwerp, passed away January 12, 2012 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Harry was born January 8, 1932 in Defiance County a son of the late Oscar & Inez (VanVlerah) Schomburg. He graduated from Ayersville High School in 1950, served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict; was a member of the Defiance Elks & Eagles and the Antwerp American Legion Post. He was a fomer dispatcher at Dinner Bell Meats in Defiance Ohio and drove semi-truck in California. Harry was a member of Defiance Christian Church.
In 1971 he married Stella Rister, who passed way in 2006.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Mark of Oklahoma; Thomas (Valerie) & Jerome (Renee) both of California; David (Connie) of Hicksville; & Timothy (Ida) of Florida; siblings, Thelma Frost, Laura Peffle all of Defiance; Robert (Sylvia) of New Mexico; & Rickey (Carol) Schomburg of Arizona, special friend, Etta Rister of Defiance; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and dog, Missy.
Preceding him in death are his sons, Dennis, James & Joseph. sisters, Beverly Land & Frances; brothers, Ronald (Margie), Harold & Roger (Dorothy).
Viewing is at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, on Monday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
His funeral service is at Defiance Christian Church, Tuesday, 11 am, with viewing one hour prior.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
