Ida Mayer

Ida Mayer, 88, of the Manor House Assisted Living, Antwerp, formerly of Elmont, NY, passed away at 12:54 am, Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Ida was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Stanke) Lemp. She lived on the same street for 82 years, moving to Antwerp October 1, 2007. She assisted in the war effort distributing parachutes to soldiers during WW II. Ida was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a school account clerk in New York.

On January 17, 1942 Ida married Robert J. Mayer, who passed away October 30, 2001.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert of Antwerp & Donald (Sandi) of Buckeye, AZ; sister, Edna (Jack) Lillie of Farmingdale, NY; four grandchildren, Jillene (Bill) McMichael of Antwerp; Jennifer (Larry) Thompson of Findlay; Michael & Lauren Mayer of New York and 6 great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by a sister and a brother.


You are invited to participate in her funeral service at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, at 11 am on Friday, September 25th, with Rev. David Meriwether officiating.

Viewing is Thursday, 2-9 pm and Friday, one hour prior to services.

Her family requests donations to Manor House Assisted Living Activity Fund.
