Iona Wearley

Iona B. Wearley, 91, of Payne, passed away at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at Convoy Care Center.

Iona was born in Muncie, Indiana on September 1, 1917, the daughter of the late Ray W. and Ella (Parsons) Bainbridge.

She worked as an Electronics Lab Tech at IT & T Aerospace Optical Division, Fort Wayne for 18 years retiring in 1980.

Iona was a member of the order of the Eastern Star Hesperian Chapter # 281 and a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Fort Wayne.

On June 28,1936 Iona married Homer Wearley who passed away in 1998.

Iona will be sadly missed by her daughter, Nancy Mathews and a son Harley (Margaret) Wearley, both of Payne, Ohio; three grandchildren, Harla (Ray) Long of Payne, Melissa Wearley of Fort Wayne, and Lisa (Bob) Holloway of Van Wert; three great grandchildren, Rayna Long, Jared Long and Karis Holloway. She is preceded in death by a sister Zetta Helmke.

You are invited to participate in her services at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio at 11 am on Wednesday April 22nd with Rev. Joseph Allan officiating.

Viewing is Tuesday, 2-8 pm and Wednesday, 10-10:45 am.

She will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery, Payne.
