Jake attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Antwerp and Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas. He was a devout Catholic. Jake graduated from Payne High School in 1954. Spending time with family and friends remained Jake's favorite pastime his entire life. In his retirement years, he developed a love for cooking, reading, wood-working as well as exploring many diverse subjects on the internet from hydrogen powered cars to a new appetizer recipe. Jake volunteered with Galveston County Hospice for the past five years. He did a wonderful job bringing comfort to terminal patients and their families. He was also an 'inventor', creating and distributing items he designed to make his hospice patients lives more comfortable and productive.
