James H. Van Horn, Sr., 83, of Payne, passed away at 9:56 am, Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home
James was born in Monroeville, Indiana on May 1, 1925, the son of the late James and Mildred (Davis) VanHorn.
He served in the U.S. Navy, worked at Dana in Fort Wayne, was a lifetime member of Antwerp VFW, he loved western movies and playing cards.
On July 6, 1948 he married Dorothy Owens, who passed away June 18, 2008.
James will be sadly missed by his daughter, Patricia (Jon) Friend of Cecil; sons, James (Sharon) of Fort Wayne, Kenneth (Rose) of Payne, John (Leighann) & Clifford, both of Hicksville; sisters, Rose Mullen & Donna Rose Linder both of Van Wert, Mary Jane Brunner & Mary Ellen Linder both of Decatur, IN & Gloria Linder; brothers, Clyde, Donald & Paul Linder all of Decatur & Dennis Linder; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Service is Monday at 1 pm, with viewing two hours prior at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp. Rev. Jim Edwards will officiate.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
