Jerry Mauldin, 81, of Hicksville, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born in Big Spring, Texas on December 31, 1941, a son of the late Verna (Johnson) & Ira Mauldin.
In his younger years, Jerry served in the United States Army, and was stationed in Korea. He went to Seminary school, as well as New Mexico State University and The University of New Mexico, and earned two Masters degrees. For many years, Jerry worked as a Baptist Pastor. He truly loved the Lord and loved bringing people to Him. He proudly officiated the weddings of all his children who married. In later years, Jerry was an adjunct professor of communications at Defiance College, where he would often bring in his grandson, that he then called “EJ,” to “show him off” as he would say. Jerry loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He accepted and loved everyone as they were, without judgement, and always had time for a chat with anyone, or to offer a well-thought-out word of advice.
At the time of his passing, he was survived by his wife, Kathy (Hunt), who has since passed away on January 8, 2023.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Charles (Jeannie) Mauldin, Kelly Darnell, Mark (Karen) Mauldin, Derek Sauder & Kami Hunter; grandchildren, Steven, Hannah, & Cooper Mauldin, Ethan Hunter, & Gabriella & Kasen Fisher; & 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Gene Mauldin.
