Jim R Friend

Jim R Friend, 81, of Antwerp, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Jim was born in Antwerp on February 2, 1934, a son of the late Hazel Delia (Peffley) and Harry Leroy Friend.

He worked at Phelps Dodge I R & W for 35; Friend Flooring & Antwerp Hardware & proudly served in the US. Army's 510th Tank Battalion in Mannheim Germany & served on the Antwerp Fire Department for 30 years.

Jim's family was very important to him. He was a particular gardener who enjoyed his yard work along with coaching Little League Baseball in Antwerp and the fellowship & worship at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne.    

On Dec. 29, 1956 he married Mary Kees.

Jim will be sadly missed by his wife Mary; children, David (Stephanie) of Fishers, IN, Pamela of Antwerp & Jill (Dennis) Jackson of Antwerp.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Durwood, Bob, Budd, Willis, Willard, Richard, Clarice, Betty Humbarger & Janet DeLong.

Viewing is Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.

His funeral service is at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, at 11 am on Friday, April 3rd with viewing one hour prior.

He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.

Memorials are to Antwerp Fire Dept. or Saint Paul UMC for the roof fund.
