James Henry Hunt, 82, of Antwerp passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Promedica Hospital, Coldwater, Michigan.
Jim was born in Marion, Ohio on September 21, 1937, a son of the late Rozelda Catherine (Otto) and Luther Henry Hunt.
Jim proudly joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955. He worked at Dana Weatherhead, the Pure Oil Gas Station, was the assistant Antwerp Police Chief and retired as a truck driver. Jim will be remembered by many by playing Santa in Antwerp during the Chistmas season. He was a member of the Antwerp VFW Post 5087 and the Payne Masonic Lodge.
He always looked forward to family vacations to Manitoulin Island and spending time at the lake in Coldwater, Michigan. The time he spent with his family was important. playing cards, fishing, camping and cooking were just some of the ways they bonded as a family. You could almost say that everyone was his family because he never met a stranger.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife, Clarehilda (Bunn) whom he married October 8, 1961; children, Shelly (Rick) Burns and Joe (Mary) Hunt; siblings, Laurenda (Roland) Gibson, Martin (Judy) Hunt, Kathy (Jerry) Mauldin, Lesa Seiger, Rebecca (Cory) Michaels and Melissa (Todd) Girardot; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Johnson & Suzie Hunt; grandchildren, Kelsea & Michaela Burns, Katie (Colton) Hall and great granddaughter, Isabella Hall.
Jim was also preceded in death by his siblings, Sandra (the late Robert) Sauder, Nancy (the late George) Burns, Peggy Johnson & William Hunt.
Private services will be held at the Antwerp united Methodist Church.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.
