John L. âJackâ Carr, 89, a life-long resident of Antwerp, born September 3, 1922, passed away December 18 while wintering in Lake Placid, Florida. Married to Juanita Smitley December 29, 1943. He served 4 ½ years in the Navy in World War II aboard the USS Augusta. Retired 25 year employee of Dana-Weatherhead. He enjoyed hobbies of farming, fishing, old western movies, and took great pride in the upkeep of his property.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Juanita; daughter, Kathy (Bob) Myers, Antwerp; 4 grandchildren, Lyle, Jr. âButchâ of Charloe, Lisa (Bill) Sheets of Hicksville, Ginette Myers of Antwerp, Brian Myers of Montpelier; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Miller of Las Vegas.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Lyle; a brother Rolland Carr, and a sister Rama (Carr) Stimpson.
At the request of Mr. Carr there will be no services. A private family burial will take place at Maumee Cemetery at a later date.
