John Henschen

John Henry Henschen, 81, of Payne, passed away at 5:40 am, Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 at Paulding County Hospital.

John was born in Payne on September 5, 1927, the son of the late Otto and Cecile (Lamb) Henschen.

He graduated from Payne High School & attended Ohio State University, where he played second trumpet in the marching band, and was a Korean War Veteran, serving in Japan. He retired from International Harvester, Ft. Wayne &,TGS, Antwerp; was a member of Payne Volunteer Fire Dept for 15 1/2 years; Flat Rock Masonic Lodge 50, American Legion Post 297 & Paulding VFW Post 587 and former member of Payne Village Council.

On Jan 28, 1954, he married his wife of 55 years, Jane (Rulman) Henschen, who survives. John will also be sadly missed by his daughters, Hope (Jim) Hartwig of Payne, Andrea (Andrew) Vallimont of Fairvew, PA, Beth Ann (Kurt) Coyne of Butler, IN; son, Terry of Canton; granddaughters, Jennifer (Tim) Porter & Kimberly (Adam) Troth; step grandchildren, Ryan, Jarod & Nathan (Arevik) Hartwig, Julia (Tommy) Sustar & Blake Madden; great grandchildren Koleton Porter & Rylee & Graiden Troth. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Graham.

Services at St. James Lutheran Church, 511 W. Townline, Payne at 2 pm on Friday, July 17th, with viewing one hour prior. Rev Joseph Allen will officiate.

Viewing is Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm, at the church, with Masonic Rites at 7 pm.

He will be laid to rest at Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne, with military honors.

His family requests donations to Payne EMS or American Legion Post 297.
