Leah A. Smith

Leah A. Smith, 90, of Payne, passed away Friday, September 24th, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Leah was born in Latty, Ohio on July 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Naomi (Grubaugh) and Forrest Williamson.

She was devoted to her family and community. Leah was a Home Economics & elementary teacher at Payne, Grover Hill & Oakwood Schools for which she was recently inducted into the Wayne Trace Teachers Hall of Fame. She was a Paulding County Carnegie Library Trustee for 24 years, the director of John Paulding Historical Society, member of the Hesperian Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, Payne EMS & Saint Paul United Methodist Church.

Leah will be sadly missed by her children, Marilyn (Roger) Johnson & Terry (Vada) Smith; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 nieces & 3 nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert J. Smith and sisters, Alice Wolford, Lois Williamson & Joan Wallace

Viewing is Friday, Oct. 1st, 4 - 7 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne.

Her funeral service is Saturday, Oct. 2nd, 10:30 am with viewing, 9:30 - 10:15 am at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 312 S Main St, Payne.

She will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery.
