Lennis Saylor

Lennis Saylor, age 90, entered heaven on March 4, 2025. He was born Lennis Harold Saylor on November 24, 1934 in Insull Kentucky to Arthur and Mary (Edds) Saylor. 

At the age of 16, the Saylor family moved to Ohio where Lennis graduated from Antwerp High School. 

He would meet his future bride at the Payne Church of the Nazarene, Lula Burkley, and he was married there on April 3, 1955. They would have four children, Brent, Denise, Danette, and Joni. 

Lennis served in the United States Army, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Later he worked at Permaglass in Payne and eventually retired from BF Goodrich, 

Lennis loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen. He talked about his family, his childhood in the hills of Kentucky, his time in Panama, hunting and his trophies. He also loved to sing, especially about his Savior. He had a beautiful bass voice that lifted his praises to heaven. 

Lennis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years, daughter Rev. Danette Hall, grandson Benjamin Saylor, brothers Leman and Dennis, and sister, Vivian Copsey.

Surviving are children Lennis Brent (Cheryl) Saylor of Haviland, Denise (Randy) Wright of Defiance , Joni (Randy) Wenninger of Payne, son-in-law Tim Hall of Fishers, IN, 12 Grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Lois Greninger, and June (Karl) Bredemeyer.

Viewing will be Saturday March 8th from 4-7 PM at Payne Church of the Nazarene. 

Funeral services will be Sunday March 9th at 2:30 PM at the church with Rev. Michael Harper officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:30 until time of service. 

He will be laid to rest privately in Wiltsie Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Payne Church of the Nazarene.
