Please note that Margie's obituary has been updated with a location for her graveside service.
Margie Ruth Parsons, 83, of Payne, passed away January 16, 2025 at her home.
Margie was born in Cameron, West Virginia on August 25, 1941, a daughter of the late Clara (Fletcher) and Bennie Ward.
Many will remember Margie as a true saint, always putting others' needs before her own with a love that was strong and unconditional. During her time in Tennessee, she devoted herself to volunteering with the Good Samaritans, spreading kindness wherever she went. Margie had an eye for a good bargain, never passing up a garage sale without slowing down to see what treasures might await. She loved crafts, flowers, puzzle books, and watching birds. Affectionately known as "Red" by her husband, James, for the red hair she kept well into her 80s, and "Old Goat," a nickname from her son-in-law that stood for "the greatest of all time" mother-in-law, Margie’s caring and determined spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family.
Margie will be sadly missed by her husband, James; daughter, Barbara (John) Carter; siblings, Beryl (Karmen McCracken) Ward, Merle (James) Dunn, & Theo (Gary) Jones; grandchildren, Brian (Mindy) & Lindsey (Cory); & 5 great grandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her son, James Parsons II; grandson, Adam Ryder; & siblings, Charles (Marjorie Weaver) Ward, Paul (Tresa West) Ward, Rosanna "June" (Donald) Elias, & Faye (Ralph) Williams.
Margie will be laid to rest on Monday, January 20th with a graveside service at 2 PM in Marion Cemetery, 620 Delaware Ave, Marion, OH 43302. Margie's gravesite is located on the south side of the cemetery off of Vernon Height's Boulevard.
