Maxine Marie (Reinhart) Nighswander of Antwerp passed away at her home on Sept 19, 2015 at the age of 81. Maxine was born in Harlan, IN Sept 4, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Madeline (Meyer) Reinhart. She married Robert L. Nighswander June 6, 1953 and had 7 children.
Maxine graduated from Antwerp High School in 1952. She worked at North American Van Lines from 1952-1953. Maxine was an accomplished seamstress sewing many wedding/bridesmaids dresses, suits, quilts and taught many to sew. She was a stay at home wife and mother along with babysitting for many, many children over the years. In 1993 she was honored to have the opportunity to work at Divine Mercy (formerly St. Mary’s) Catholic Church as the secretary. She was employed by the church for 22 years and retired in 2014 at the age of 79. Along with being employed by the church she participated in a 5 year Lay Ministry class, taught NFP (Natural Family Planning) for 15 years, was part of the Engaged Couples Conference and TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) teams. She participated in many Retreats including Marriage Encounter, Christ Renews His Parish, Cursillo Movement, and she served on many committees, and retreats. She played in two different card clubs for many years. She enjoyed playing piano, cards traveling and being with people. She loved her Catholic faith, her family and friends.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Robert L. Nighswander; children, David (Marty) of Port Clinton, OH, Pamela Franklin of Kokomo, IN, Catherine (Nick) Antoszewski of Holland, OH, Carol of Port Clinton OH, Brenda (John) McClory of McClure, OH, Anthony (Shelley) of Hicksville, OH. She was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Jones. She was a loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren and sister to Kenneth (Doris), Russ (Rochelle), Paul (Jean) & Thomas (Judi) Reinhart & and Marilyn (Paul) Adams.
She will be missed by her family and friends
Funeral Mass is at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Antwerp on Wednesday at 10 am.
Viewing is at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp on Tuesday, 2 pm - 7:30 pm, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm. Viewing is also Wednesday, 9-9:30 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Divine Mercy Catholic Church for masses or the bell tower renovation or Community Health Professioanls (Hospice).
