Rex Edward Shaner

Rex Edward Shaner, 82, of Antwerp, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital.

Rex was born in Paulding, Ohio on October 24, 1939, a son of the late Martha (Winters) & Carl Shaner.

Rex worked for most of his life at BF Goodrich. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Antwerp VFW, where he continued his service honorably saluting his fallen comrades in the honor guard. Rex loved to travel, especially to Navy Reunions all over the country. Most of all, though, Rex loved his family and was always happy to see his grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Catherine; daughters, Vickie (Ted) Elumbaugh & Michelle (Jim) Calhoun; son-in-law, Shane Lockhart; sister, Julia Michael; 9 grandchildren; & 11 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Lockhart.

Viewing is Friday, September 30, 2022, from 1-3 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River St., Antwerp, Ohio 45813.

Service is Friday, September 30, 2022, at 3 PM at the funeral home with military honors to follow.
