Richard "Dick" Butyok, age 72 of Antwerp, passed away at 8 am, Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville. Dick was born in Carolina, West Virginia on May 19, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Gazelli) Butyok. He married Norma F. (Cutlip) May 20, 1957. Dick served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 until 1954, he received a bachelors degree from Fairmont State College, Fairmont, West Virginia and his masters from University of Toledo. He was Trade Industrial Supervisor at Vantage Career Center and previous to that at Antwerp Local Schools and Four County Vocational. Dick was a member of Antwerp United Methodist Church and Carpenters Union #232. He enjoyed woodworking and coin & stamp collecting. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Norma; daughter, Lisa Mortorff; son, Thomas, all of Antwerp; sisters, kathleen Johnstone of Winston-Salem, NC, Maryanne Sanders of Ft. Ashby, WV, Vicky Tassan of Arlington, VA; brother, Robert of Ida May, WV; grandaughter, Jesse Phipps and great grandson, Clayton Phipps of Antwerp. He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine DeVito. You are invited to participate in his funeral service, Monday, March 7th, 1 pm with calling after 11 am, at Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston, WV. You may call Saturday, March 5th, from 5 until 8 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp. Dick will be laid to rest at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Antwerp United Methodist Church, the 1st Baptist Church of Antwerp or the American Heart Association.
