Richard Peffley Friend

Richard Peffley Friend, 86, of Antwerp passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Vancrest of Antwerp.

Dick was born in Antwerp on July 14, 1928, a son of the late Hazel Delia (Peffley) and Harry Leroy Friend.

He was a member of Antwerp VFW Post 5087, was a Scout Master and worked at Phelps Dodge.

The best times of his life were spent serving his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army; sharing afternoons with his family watching Buckeye football; fishing for Bluegill and enjoying Big Band & Polka music.    

On Feb. 6, 1954 he married Jeanruth Louise Kallsen who passed away March 26, 2003.

Dick will be sadly missed by his children, Deborah (Manfred) Karallus of Leo, IN, Harry Joseph (Rhonda) & Jon (Pat) both of Cecil; brother, Jim (Mary) of Antwerp; grandchildren, Abbey (Nic) Niebel & Sam Karallus; great grandchildren Ella Jean, Henry Ronan & Max Peffley Niebel.

He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Matt Karallus & siblings, Derwood, Bob, Budd, Willis, Willard, Clarice, Betty Humbarger & Janet DeLong.

Viewing is Sunday, 2 to 6 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp

His funeral service at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp at 11 am on Monday, March 23rd, with viewing one hour prior.

He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.
