Richard C. Smith, 87 of Antwerp died at home on Monday, May 23, 2016.
Dick was born in Antwerp on Oct 4, 1928 a son of the late Charles & Myrtle ( Stultz) Smith.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at LaFarge; the Antwerp Equity Exchange & Dooley Funeral Home. Dick was a charter member of the Antwerp Conservation Club and rarely missed a day at the Card Room. His actions spoke to his deep faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Mother.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Julie Hockenberry, Joni (Kevin) Taylor & Jeff (Reba); his grandchildren Cory, Chris, Sam, Matt, Michael (Amber), Aaron (Veronica), Adam (Taylor), Cassie (Craig), Andrew (Samantha), Anthony (Danielle), Ashlee; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that gave him great joy and sister, Grace Light.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Naomi (Zuber) whom he married June 17, 1950 and siblings, Ivan, Paul & Ruth.
Viewing is at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp on Wednesday, 5 to 7:30 pm, with a vigil at 7:30 pm. Viewing is also Thursday, 9-9:30 am at Dooley Funeral Home.
Funeral mass is at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 303 S. Monroe Street, Antwerp on Thursday, 10 am.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.
Memorials are to Divine Mercy (for the bell tower).
