Robert Glenn Habern, 67, of Latty, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Robert was born in Van Wert, Ohio on July 11, 1954, a son of the late Lilly (Valentine) & Robert W. Habern.
Robert had a love for his country and a love for service. He proudly spent 23 years with the US Army, working as a drill sergeant at Fort Knox and an Instructor at the Virginia Military Institute. He was proud to have served with the Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery and with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell. After his years in the Army, Robert continued his service with his work with the Disabled American Veterans organization, giving back to his fellow servicemen and women. Once retired from the army, Robert also worked and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Above all, Robert was a hard-working man that cared deeply for his family.
He will be sadly missed by his life partner, Kathy Habern; children, Robert S. Habern, Jennifer (Scott) Meyer, Kerry (Nick) Ruble, & Rebecca (Logan) Stahl; 5 sisters; 1 brother; & grandchildren, Ezra, Venna, Brooks, Aylah, Bronson, & Ledger.
Robert was also preceded in death by his infant son, Shawn G. Habern.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Payne Church of the Nazarene, 509 Orchard Street, Payne, Ohio 45880.
