Robert Rister, 77, of Antwerp passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Paulding County Hospital.
Bob was born in Lowder, Kentucky on June 19, 1934, a son of the late Gertrude (Newsome) and Fred Rister.
While serving in the U.S. Marines from 1954 to 1956, had the distinguished duty of serving as an honor guard at Camp David under President Eisenhower.
Bob was a mechanic at Materials Handling Equipment for 38 years; a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Three Rivers Woodworkers Club & Antwerp American Legion Post 253.
On July 20, 1956 he married Betty Schmidt.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty; sons, Rolan (Karen) of Antwerp, Andrew of Bryan, Bruce of Manteca, CA, Norman (Suzanne), Jonathan (Jodie) & Dean (Gayle) all of Antwerp; sister, Eunice ( Harold) Bell of Antwerp; 8 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren.
Bob was also preceded in death by his siblings, Tyrone & Dewey Rister & Stella Schomburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 303 S. Monroe Street, Antwerp, at 10 am on Saturday, October 15th.
He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, with military honors.
Viewing is Friday, 2-6 pm and Saturday, 9 to 9 :30 am, at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp.
A Catholic Vigil Service will be held at 6 pm on Friday at Dooley Funeral Home.
