Rodney "Hoss" K Hoaglin

Rodney "Hoss" Keith Hoaglin, 66, of Payne, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Paulding County Hospital.

Hoss was born in Hicksville, Ohio on September 15, 1956, a son of the late Cecile (Zartman) & Roger Hoaglin.

Hoss worked at Carter Lumber in Van Wert. At a young age, he enjoyed fishing, spending time at Marble Lake, and being involved in the Wayne Trace FFA. He also enjoyed tractor pulls and was often found working and watching the pulls at Fort Recovery every year. Hoss enjoyed taking trips around Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan to look at the scenery. He could also often be found sitting in his truck at the four way stop in Payne. He'd tell you he was watching the traffic, but really he was just napping! Hoss was a big teddy bear, known by just about everyone. He loved his nieces and nephews and had a special bond with his great nephew, Caleb, who spent time fishing and helping him with different errands.

He will be sadly missed by his nieces, Jessica (Nicholas) Merritt & Rachel Meynardie; & his great nephews and nieces.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Hancock & Steve Hoaglin.

A celebration of life will be held October 29, 2022, at 2PM at the Payne Church of the Nazarene.
