Ronald E. Schoenauer, 73, of Payne, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Ron was born in Paulding on August 2, 1949, a son of the late Sarah Leona (Zartman) and Frederick Edward Schoenauer.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron worked at BF Goodrich until his retirement in 1998. He then worked at EMP Grain Elevator in Payne, while also serving as a councilman for the Village of Payne. He enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, fishing, riding his golf cart and watching NASCAR. You could always depend on him to cheer for Ohio State Football and any Wayne Trace sport, but there was nothing he loved more than his family.
Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Cathy (Phipps), to whom he was married July 8, 1972; children, Carrie (Aaron) McKinney and Scott (Audra) Schoenauer; siblings, Donna (Robert) Foehl & Betty Gloor; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo & Mick Schoenauer and grandchildren, Sarah (Austin) Winebrenner, Emily & Allison Dyson, Jack Schoenauer and Grace & Megan McKinney.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Norman & Gene Schoenauer.
Visitation is Friday, September 23rd, 4 pm to 7 pm, at Dooley Funeral Home 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio.
