SAMMY RAY SMITH, 64, of Antwerp, passed away Friday, July 20th, 2007, while serving his community in an accident involving an ambulance and semi-truck.

Sam was born in Harts, WV on June 5, 1943, the son of the late Elza and Alice (Crittenden) Smith.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He worked as a tire builder at BF Goodrich, Woodburn, retiring in 1997.

He was a 30 year veteran of the Antwerp Fire & EMS Departments.

Sam will be sadly missed by his wife Anna Faye (Cottrell) Smith, who he married, November 11, 1967 and his son, Michael Ray Smith of Antwerp.

Sam is preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen Dillion, Belva, Mary & Joyce Smith and brothers Henry, William, Paul & Elza, Jr.

You are invited to participate in his funeral service Friday, 1 pm, at Antwerp Local Schools, 303 S. Harrmann Road, Antwerp, with Rev. Jim Edwards officiating.

You may call Thursday, 2 to 9 pm at the school.

He will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
