Shirley Gumina

Shirley May Gumina, 88, of Payne, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, at Vancrest of Payne. 

Shirley was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Dora (Bell) & Andrew Harkabus. 

Shirley, who grew up in Youngstown, cherished her time spent at Idora Park during her youth. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to helping others, volunteering for many years at the Trumbull County Red Cross, where she was honored with an award for her exceptional service. As a housekeeper, she worked diligently caring for others. She also always loved caring for her beloved pet dogs and cats. Shirley was always the first to step up during a crisis or provide comfort during a family loss, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness and a deep commitment to helping others. 

She will be sadly missed by her children, Dora (Dennis) Pingel & Howard Harkabus; grandson, Andrew (Peggy) Miller; great granddaughter, Emily (Josh) Miller; 2 great great grandchildren; & niece, Linda.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, baby Robert; Edward (Marggie), Charles (Edna); sisters, Caroline Hale, Dorothy (William) Rapuk, Ester Hanna, & Mary Harkabus. 

Shirley will be laid to rest privately.
