Steven Head

Steven M. Head, 59, of Payne, passed away at 10:45 am, Friday, April 18th, 2008 suddenly at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Steven was born in Fort Wayne on March 27, 1949, the son of the late Roy and Edla (Anderson) Head.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and the Air National Guard. He was a manager at Al Gratz Body Shop, Fort Wayne and was a member of Payne American Legion Post 297 & St. James Lutheran Church, Payne. Steve served on the church council & Payne Village Council.

Steve enjoyed his family, motorcycling and woodworking.

On March 28, 1970, he married, Kay Hilgeman, who survives.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Kay; daughters, Kara (David) Beers of Ft Wayne & Gretchen (Gregory) Baumle of Dayton; son, Andrew (Racheal) of Payne; sisters, Marilyn Bender of Waynesboro, PA & Kathleen Kneppler of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Isaac & Tyler Head & Alexander Beers.

His brother, Lawrence precedes him in death.

You are invited to participate in his service at St. James Lutheran Church, Payne, at 11 am on Thursday, April 24th, with viewing one hour prior to services. Rev. Joseph Allen will officiate.

He will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery, Payne.
