Vertie King, 89, of Antwerp, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 9th, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne
Vertie was born in Pike County, Kentucky on December 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Gracie (Ratliff) and Hillard Bartley.
Vertie was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
In 1949 she married Charles King who died in 1976.
Vertie will be sadly missed by her sons, James (Alice) Smallwood of Fort Wayne & Creed Smallwood of Antwerp; daughter-in-law, Sandy King of Grover Hill; 4 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Thomas, grandson, Thomas and her brothers & sisters.
Viewing is Tuesday, 5-8 pm, at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp and Wednesday after 7 pm at Marrow Bone Missionary Baptist Church.
Her funeral service is Thursday, 2 pm, at Marrow Bone Missionary Baptist Church, Elkhorn City, KY, with Pastor Roger Johnson officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville, KY.
