Viola May Thompson, 96, of Woodburn passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Golden Years Homestead, Fort Wayne.
Viola was born in Spencer, Iowa on May 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Christine A. (Amelsberg) and John H. Sonius.
She was an instructor at Warner Beauty College & a seamstress at Federspiel Draperies and a member of Woodburn Missionary Church.
Viola married Russell Thompson on Dec. 31, 1947. Russell died Oct. 26, 1989.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Nancy (Bob) Hoeppner of Woodburn, Joanne (Doug) Neuenschwander of Berne & Norman (Susan) Thompson of Angola; sister, Ruth Drill of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren.
Viola was also preceded in death by her brothers, Henry & Elmer Sonius.
Her funeral service is at 10 am on Tuesday, January 21st, with viewing one hour prior at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Rd, Woodburn, where viewing is also Monday, 4-8 pm.
She will be laid to rest at Scipio Cemetery.
