VIRGINIA G. ZIELKE, 103, of Payne, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, to be with the Lord.
Born Sept. 29, 1912, in Columbus, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Sheldon and Florence (Coakley) Graham.
She attended Columbus public schools and Ohio State University where she met her future husband Albert Zielke. They married in 1934, eventually moving with him on the family farm in Paulding County. A proud alumni of Ohio State University, she was a lifelong devoted fan of Buckeye sports in addition to many others. Virginia taught at the Paulding, Lincolnview and Columbus schools. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, and quilting giving the family many heirloom pieces to treasure. She remained an avid reader her entire life and continued recently to enjoy weekly visits from the bookmobile. She was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church of Briceton.
She will be missed by her son, David (Shirley) of Fort Worth, Texas; son-in-law, Dan O'Nail of Homewood, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Zielke of Frankenmuth, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; and children, Nancy Wallace, Karen O'Nail and Richard Zielke; and sister, Dorothy Hampson.
Services for Virginia will be conducted by Pastor Karen Stetins at 3:00PM on Friday July 22, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church of Briceton. A graveside service will be held on Saturday July 23, at 2:00PM at St. Paul's Cemetery, Briceton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Paulding Library Bookmobile, Paulding County Senior Center, or Briceton Lutheran Church.
