He was born in Pittsburgh a son of the late Steve & Helen (Bugyi) Smith.

Richard proudly served in he United States Navy and was a truck driver for Thomas Keller Trucking.

Jan is survived by her companion, Jeff Reeb and sister, Carol Ness.
